Lou Tierno III is the Director of the Pennsylvania Sustainable Business Network and Decarbonize Middle America Program Manager at the Center for Sustainable Business at the University of Pittsburgh.
Lou has worked in numerous roles at Sustainable Start-Ups in the Pittsburgh area from Marketing and Outreach Coordinator to Chief Optimism Officer. Through his work, he has helped to reduce companies carbon footprint while increasing awareness of sustainability throughout the region. His current roles allow him to expand this work across the region and within private industry sectors, building an ecosystem that supports regional economic development towards a just transition for future generations of Appalachia.
Lou is most interested in supporting and growing local circular economies and sustainable systems that support each business in Appalachia on their journey towards sustainability. Lou envisions a region where all sectors and industries support an economic system that can be celebrated for future generations to thrive.
